# languageDialectCode (field)

A field in the Component annotation type reference set or a Member annotation type reference set, containing a [string](/snomed-ct-specifications/snomed-ct-release-file-specification/appendices/appendix-b.-specification-reference-information/s/string-data-type.md) that indicates the language and/or dialect of the string held in the[ value](/snomed-ct-specifications/snomed-ct-release-file-specification/appendices/appendix-b.-specification-reference-information/v/value-field.md) field.

The format of the languageDialectCode string follows the standard [RFC 5646](https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc5646).
