# Simplex User Guide

Simplex is a lightweight, web-based toolkit from SNOMED International that enables Members and Affiliates to create and manage SNOMED CT extensions quickly, easily, and at no cost.

It is designed for organizations that need a practical and affordable way to tailor SNOMED CT content, such as:

* 🌍 Translations
* 📂 Subsets
* 🔗 Simple maps
* 🧩 Minimal-modeled concepts

\
By providing a self-service, online solution, Simplex lowers both technical and financial barriers to extension management, while ensuring your extensions remain standards-compliant and ready for distribution.

### ✨ Why Simplex?

Simplex is especially suited to:

* Organizations with basic extension needs,
* Users who don’t have access to other extension management platforms,
* Teams looking for a cost-effective and automated environment for extension release.

Unlike the SNOMED CT Managed Service, which provides a comprehensive, supported solution for complex extension requirements, Simplex is focused on simplicity and independence. It empowers you to work hands-on with your own extension content, without relying on external infrastructure.
