# inpatient episode ## inpatient episode A healthcare episode that includes the healthcare encounters of a subject of care between their admission to and discharge from a hospital ward. #### Notes * This general definition applies to SNOMED International documentation but should be interpreted taking account of more specific national or organizational definitions of inpatient status.
