**This is a synonym for hierarchy tag.**

## hierarchy tag

A parenthetical notation at the end of a fully specified name indicating the relevant domain.

#### Notes

* The purpose of *hierarchy tags* is to disambiguate concepts that contain the same commonly used words or phrases.
